The Love of Chris and Selena! The year was 1988. That is when Selena met a guitarist named Chris Perez. Chris had recently performed with the popular singer Shelly Lares and also had his own band. In1990,the Quintanilla family hired him to be in the band. At first they were just good friends, then Selena and Chris fell in love and they admitted their love for one another at a Pizza Hut restaurant. They had to keep their love a secret, because Abraham wouldn't have it!After all, Chris had a history of arrests and was considered a "bad influence" to Selena. In fact, Chris was even fired when Selena's dad found out about their blossoming romance. That broke Selena's heart and upon seeing how miserable Selena was, he rehired him back. On April 2, 1992, the two eloped at the t the Nueces County Courthouse. Selena was 20 years old. Selena wore a Coke jacket and blue jeans. The judge waived the 3 day waiting period and married them. Mr. Quintanilla accepted the marriage and Chris became a part of the family. Hence from that day forward, Selena became Mrs. Chris Perez (Selena Quintanilla-Perez). Selena and Chris moved into a house next door to her parents, but was in the process of having a house built in the area. She wanted to have 5 children and had made plans on having them right after her cross over tour. Sadly that that dream never came true. Selena would be tragically killed on March 31, 1995, and was buried one day after what would of been their 3rd wedding anniversary.

Biography of Chris

Christopher Gilbert Perez was born on August 16, 1970, in San Antonio, Texas.

San Antonio-born Perez launched his musical career, in 1989, as guitarist for a bar-room group, Shelly Lares. His most successful work, however, came in collaboration with his late wife. Their four albums with Los Dinos, the band they shared with her sister, Suzette Arriaga, and her brother, A.B. Quintanella, brought them regional acclaim.



Chris Perez's world seemed to collapse, on March 31, 1995, as his wife and singer for his Tejano band Los Dinos, Selena was murdered by the former president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldivar. After a period of mourning, Perez made his return to music with a new Rock en Espanol group, the Chris Perez Band, featuring La Mafia bassist Rudy Martinez, former Los Dinos keyboardist Joe Ojeda, vocalist John Garza and drummer Jesse Esquivel. The band's bi-lingual debut album, Resurrection, released in 1999, showcased Perez's songwriting with nine songs that he wrote or co-wrote with Ojeda.

He is now remarried to Vanessa and has two children, a daughter named Cassie and a son named Noah.
